Danae holds a master's degree from Doane University in Curriculum and Instruction and is a doctoral candidate in the Department of Teaching, Learning, and Teacher Education here at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, specializing in instructional technology and neurovisceral development within teaching and learning.

After 15 years in K-12 schools as an English, Reading, and Special Educator, she joined the Instructional Design team during the summer of 2022. Her professional interests include course design, social enterprise thinking, critical and speculative design, educational design research, universal design for learning (UDL), experiential learning, and reflective practice.

Outside of her part-time obligations within the Center for Transformative Teaching, Danae is the mother of a little girl with neurodivergence and the director of a non-profit start up specializing in developmental clinical and educational research, advocacy, and direct service provision for children with exposure to Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs).
