On Campus Events

Distance Education Luncheons and Demonstrations:

Held two times per year, these events offer opportunities for networking, roundtable discussions about key issues, and viewing demonstrations of successful distance education teaching strategies.

College department-specific activities:

Held within each college or department throughout the year, these brown bags, demonstrations, presentations, and training sessions focus on college or department special needs. Contact your Instructional Design Technology Specialist for additional information.

Conferences

Conference group meetingMany conferences focus on all aspects of distance education. We encourage you to submit presentation proposals and/or participate in a number of conferences around the topics of distance learning pedagogy and instructional technologies.


We have listed a few of the major conferences below (there are many others):

  • Distance Teaching and Learning Conference. Madison, WI (usually held in late summer).
  • EDUCAUSE National Conference as well as several specialty and regional conferences throughout the year.
  • ONLINE LEARNING CONSORTIUM (formerly Sloan Consortium) National Conference as well as several specialty and regional conferences throughout the year.
  • UPCEA University Professional Continuing Education Association National Conference as well as several specialty and regional conferences throughout the year.
  • USDLA United States Distance Learning Association National Conference as well as several specialty and regional conferences throughout the year.
  • WCET Western Cooperative for Educational Technologies National Conference as well as several specialty and regional conferences throughout the year.

Adobe Presenter and Connect Users

Adobe Presenter provides for the easily created narrated PowerPoints. Adobe Connect allows for real-time class sessions without needing to download plug-ins. There is an Adobe Connect listserv you can join. For additional information on these programs, go to the UNL Connect Resource Page.
