How to take a Scholarly Approach to your own Classroom

October 18, 2021

When developing and teaching courses, it can feel like the only resources available are intuition and personal experience. In reality, there is a large body of research dedicated to the scholarly investigation of best practices for teaching.

This workshop introduced participants to the field of pedagogical research and was open to all instructors looking to improve teaching methods. Whether an informal investigation that is only intended to shape your course, conducting a formal research project intended for publication, or just learning more about a specific field.

Participants learned how to develop research questions about pedagogy, discuss potential methods to answer questions, give examples of where to find funding, and how to publish projects.
