We're glad you're interested in joining the pilot offering of the Reflective Practitioner Program. You can use this form to register for the 2021-2022 pilot offering. Before you register, take a quick look through the program details to make sure you are familiar with the prerequisites and annual requirements for the level you intend to complete.

Intended Level
Please don't view your selection as a self-assessment of your teaching expertise. Instead, please review the program requirements and select the one that aligns with the time you're willing to commit to this type of developmental work over the next year. You could be a very experienced instructor and simply opt to complete the Bronze tier of the program because that's all you have time for this particular year.
Teaching & Learning Institute Completed
To participate in the Silver or Gold levels of the program you must first complete a Teaching & Learning Institute. If you have not yet completed one of these programs we encourage you to participate in the Bronze level of the RPP program and hope to see you in a future offering of one of these institutes.

Bronze Prerequisites & Annual Requirements

Before you complete the Bronze level of the program (or within your first year) you are expected to:

We estimate these items to take roughly four hours to complete.

To earn Bronze recognition, on an annual basis you are expected to:

  • Attend three teaching and learning related workshops
  • Meet at least once a semester with a teaching partner from UNL to discuss your teaching development
  • Complete  the UNL Teaching Observation Process as a  reviewee
  • Complete a Bronze Instructor Development Portfolio

We estimate these items to take roughly 13-15 hours to complete. We will communicate more with you about these requirements throughout the year.

Silver Annual Requirements

To earn Silver recognition, on an annual basis you are expected to:

  • Attendance at a  half-day  teaching and learning retreat
  • Attend two teaching and learning related workshops
  • Participate in  a CTT  Learning  Community
  • Meet  at least once a semester with a gold-tier teaching mentor  to discuss development
  • Complete the UNL Teaching Observation Process as both a reviewee and a reviewer
  • Write  an  article  for the CTT website or develop and deliver a workshop summarizing research around teaching or sharing personal  teaching  experiences
  • Completion of a Silver Instructor Development Portfolio

We estimate these items will take roughly 30-40 hours total to complete. We will communicate more with you about these requirements throughout the year.

Gold Annual Requirements

To earn Gold recognition, on an annual basis you are expected to:

  • Attend at a 1-day teaching and learning retreat. The morning will be programming dedicated to gold participants, and they will be joined by silver participants for the afternoon programming.
  • Mentor  silver RPP participants
  • Complete the UNL Teaching Observation Process as both a reviewee and a reviewer
  • With support from  the  Center for Transformative Teaching, develop  a substantial project to advance the culture of teaching and learning at the  university, such as:
    • Develop and deliver an institute
    • Develop and deliver a series of workshops
    • Facilitate a  learning community
    • Conduct and publish scholarship of teaching & learning research
    • Coordinate and facilitate the annual RPP gold/silver retreat
    • Other projects will be considered on a case-by-case basis on the grounds of  institutional  outreach and academic rigor
  • Completion of a Gold Instructor Development Portfolio

We estimate these items will take roughly 40-50 hours total to complete. We will communicate more with you about these requirements throughout the year.
