SoTL can provide opportunities for analyses of student learning in and across institutions and disciplines while creating frameworks of practice for instructors to develop higher quality education (Bernstein 2013). As SoTL is still a form of scholarship, these analyses and frameworks are constantly evolving as experiences and methodologies evolve. Thus, SoTL offers a unique perspective into the best and most effective teaching and learning strategies to elevate the experience of higher education as a whole. By contributing to SoTL, scholars are sharing norms, expectations, previous practices, and new ideas in a unifying platform, making it easier for those who follow SoTL to improve along with the community of practitioners. Therefore, SoTL is an opportunity for scholars to enhance, transform, and communicate methods of teaching and learning (Felten 2013, 1).
