Symposium 2021 Spring: Confronting Realities in the Classroom: Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

8:50 a.m.	Welcome from director Nick Monk, Center for Transformative Teaching, and introduction of keynote speaker Bryan Dewsbury.
9:00 a.m.	Interactive Keynote Bryan Dewsbury The keynote will explore the connection between inclusive teaching practices and education as a general practice of freedom, using a reflective, historical approach and data from an introductory STEM classroom. A pathway will be provided for educators to consider their own agency and responsibility for enacting inclusive approaches in their classroom. 11:00 a.m.	Workshop I What is your why? \| Meaning and purpose in inclusive teaching Participants will look inward to position themselves, their thoughts, and their sense of calling as educators in the service of practice. The session will allow participants the opportunity to begin an exploration of how data derived from this session might help us to us consider our students differently. View Recording
