Aspirational Teaching Institute

This program is a professional-development learning community for early-career instructors in the College of Education and Human Sciences (CEHS). ATI brings new educators together in a supportive community of practice where they can explore inclusive, student-centered, and innovative teaching. Instead of traditional workshops, ATI relies on facilitated conversations that encourage participants to set personal teaching goals, share challenges, and learn from one another.

Format and Schedule

ATI meets face-to-face once each month for 60–90 minutes across the 2025–26 academic year (two semesters, roughly eight sessions in total). Meetings are discussion-driven and may feature guests from the Center for Transformative Teaching or other campus units. Core themes—such as inclusive teaching, accessibility, Universal Design for Learning (UDL), student-centered assessment, classroom climate, and emerging technologies like generative AI—serve as springboards, but the direction of each session is shaped by participants’ own questions and aspirations.

The exact meeting dates will be determined once registration has closed and will be based on the availability of the majority of faculty participants.

Participation Expectations

Active engagement is essential. While occasional conflicts are understandable, members are encouraged to attend every monthly meeting and come prepared to contribute experiences, insights, and resources
