AMP Fall 2025

Starting this fall, the Center for Transformative Teaching is offering AMP — a low-pressure, virtual community to help UNL instructors make their course content accessible and meet new federal Title II accessibility guidelines. Join us in Microsoft Teams for weekly tips, goal setting, office hours, and a supportive space to ask questions, and celebrate progress.

Let’s get your courses ready for the April 2026 deadline— together.

Why

In response to updated federal Title II guidelines, all digital content—including materials in Canvas courses—must meet new accessibility standards by April 24, 2026. That may sound like a long way off, but the work involved in remediating existing content can be substantial. Instructors are being asked to have their course materials in compliance by the start of the 2025–26 academic year, so now is the time to get started.

What

To help you prepare, the Center for Transformative Teaching (CTT) is offering the Accessibility Motivation Plan (AMP), a virtual community for instructors of all experience levels. We know summer can be busy, and sometimes it’s hard to stay on track with big projects, so AMP will provide a light, fun, and flexible accountability structure hosted in Microsoft Teams. Participants will be able to pose questions, discuss challenges, and get advice when they need it. In addition to this virtual community, the CTT will also be hosting virtual office hours weekly to get questions answered in real time. Whether you're just beginning or already on your way, this program will equip you with tools, guidance, and best practices for making your digital content more inclusive.

Who

Anyone with teaching duties can sign up and be added to a dedicated Teams channel alongside members of the CTT Accessibility team.

When

"Monday Motivator” thread to set your goals for the week

"Tuesday Tip" thread to highlight an actionable step toward accessibility

"Friday Check-in" reporting thread to reflect on your progress, share any roadblocks, and celebrate your wins!

Ongoing Participants are welcome to post in the channel anytime they are working and have a question—someone from the CTT (or a peer) can help out quickly.

Office Hours: TBD

Hit a snag?

No worries, a member of the CTT accessibility team can hop into a zoom session for help. If no one is immediately available, we’ll get a meeting on the books within a day or two.

Need support?

As a participant, you will be part of a supportive community where others are working on the same things, facing similar challenges, and cheering each other on.

Going on vacation?

Not a problem! There’s no expectation that you engage every single week. Just turn off Teams notifications while you’re gone and turn them back on when you’re ready to get back to work.

Still, not sure?

AMP is low-pressure, fun, and easy to join throughout the summer! If you sign up and don’t find the experience useful, you can leave the Teams channel whenever you’d like.

Key Details:

  • Participation: This community is open to any instructor at UNL ready to take on accessibility.
  • Format: All participants will be added to a Team Channel for asynchronous work.
  • Resources: All learning materials such as program specific videos and checklists are available on the Center for Transformative Teaching Website.
  • Scheduled Office Hours: Time and Date TBD,  via Zoom

Digital Accessibility Series

The series of digital accessibility workshops were designed to build practical skills and in-depth understanding of accessibility best practices.

As you work to make your courses more accessible or are completely new to implementing  digital accessibility, the recorded workshop series will equip you with practical skills to make a meaningful impact.

Workshop Recordings

The following resources are from the Spring 2025  Digital Accessibility workshop series. Participants learned what it means to implement digital accessibility and how enhancing digital accessibility in your courses positively impacts all students. We introduced participants to the most common types of accessibility features that tend to show up across commonly used programs. Universal Design for Learning (UDL) is a framework that moves beyond accessibility to provide options and flexibility that enhance learning for all students. In the final recording, the basic principles of UDL were shared and participants learned how to implement UDL in their courses.
