Classroom Technology Tips

For instructors using the General Purpose (GP) Classrooms for teaching this semester. We have a few tips for getting most out of classroom technology.

  • All instructors need to wear the classroom lapel microphone for both in-class and remote students to effectively hear the instructor. This is especially important for recorded classes - the recording may not have good audio if the instructor is not wearing a microphone.
  • Instructors should slow down their conversation and enunciate as the mask can muffle the instructors voice.
  • Instructors can download the chat transcript of a their Zoom class. The chat transcript can be used to review questions and comments from students.
  • Using the Zoom chat feature allows all students to participate in the course and to "see" and "hear' their peer's questions or comments on the course content. Consider having different students each class period monitor the chat and track questions.
