Getting Started with UDL

September 24, 2021

Universal design is about creating environments that make space for diverse needs and abilities. Universal Design for Learning (UDL) is an application of this approach for an educational setting – a framework that involves preparing a course so that it will suit a diversity of learners. Implementing UDL principles to their fullest can be challenging, especially if one has limited time. But that doesn’t mean you cannot make progress.

In this session, participants were introduced to the fundamentals of UDL and offer methods of implementing it in small doses – to gradually bring course materials and instructional approaches in line with UDL principles. This session benefited instructors who aspire to address classroom challenges through Universal Design for Learning using small, practical steps.
